SkillsUSA is a national student organization-serving students enrolled in career and technical education training programs at our nation’s public high schools and colleges. Students who join will have the opportunity to compete in Region, State and National competitions. Please visit https://www.skillsusageorgia.org/ for more information about SkillsUSA.
Lanier College & Career Academy brings “home” Gold, Silver & Bronze medallions from the SkillsUSA state competition. Not only have these students overcome many challenges with an unusual school year, they’ve also worked hard to showcase their technical skills earning the title of “champion” at the state competition. The event was held in a remote hands-on/virtual format which required technical excellence and resilience in addition to a performance assessment for each category. Local business partners such as Carroll Daniel Construction, Lawson Air Conditioning & Plumbing, Lanier Technical College, and family of both LCCA’s academic and career tech instructors volunteered their time to proctor each event. The SkillsUSA State Leadership and Skills Conference winners are below:
Brittany Arroyo, 3rd place in Nail Care
Sawyer Cantrell & Evan Perry, 1st Place in Construction Technology Display
Jesse Suggs, 1st Place (advances to nationals) in Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration
Brian Swenson, 2nd Place in Carpentry
Erika Thomas & Citlaly Torres, 2nd Place in Esthetics Design Display
Congratulations to our students that placed in the SkillsUSA State Level Competition!!!
